Ben and Matt began working together while attending New York University, where they collaborated on the voice work for Ben's thesis film- She She She She's A Bombshell. The animated short went on a successful festival run- winning "Best College Student Animation" at the Nashville Film Festival, and being featured in the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival's "Animated New York" selection.

Later that year Ben and Matt formed a partnership by creating the studio For Tax Reasons and embarking on their first animated endeavor; a short called IM IN UR MANGER KILLING UR SAVIOR. With it's skewed take on niche nerd humor, IM IN UR MANGER became a small internet sensation. It was most prominently featured by Channel Frederator on Youtube, and on the popular site Boing Boing.

For Tax Reasons continues to create comedic short films, primarily for their ongoing web series Ronin Dojo Community College DX, and various work for television.
